Does home health care have to be prescribed by a doctor?

My mother requires at home medical care for surgery recovery. Does she require a written prescription from a doctor before she can receive care?

If you wish to have the costs covered by Medicare, a doctor's note is required, among other qualifications. Hoowever, home health care services are available to anyone on a private pay basis. Good luck!
